Former Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake predicts “massive” 2024 voting participation. In an interview with conservative news channel OAN, she predicted.
“We are gonna SWAMP the vote,” Lake said. “I think we’re gonna see a record turnout of people who are tired of the status quo and want to make a change.”
Lake’s prediction is based on the belief that Republicans are highly motivated to vote in the wake of the 2020 election, which many Republicans believe was stolen from President Donald Trump.
“People are angry,” Lake said. “They’re angry that the election was stolen from them. They’re angry that their voices are not being heard. And they’re gonna come out in record numbers to make sure that their voices are heard in 2024.”
Lake’s forecast may come true. There is some indication that 2024 voting participation may be high. According to a Pew Research Center study, 71% of registered voters think the 2024 election is “more important” than prior ones.
If Lake is right and voter turnout is high in 2024, it might affect the election. High Republican voter turnout might help Republicans win presidential contests.
Whether Lake’s forecast comes true is unknown. However, her statements indicate Republican excitement for the 2024 race. That excitement might lead to increased voter turnout, making for an exciting election season.
